Hey there!  My name is Blake Nash and I am the Owner / Event Planner at Occasions Event Design.  I am so happy you found our website. I want to share a little about me and how I got myself into the wedding industry!  I was ordained in December 2009 to officiate a friend’s wedding, and was hooked!  It was such an amazing honor to play such a big part in their new chapter of life!  I have been doing weddings ever since.  I founded Weddings By Blake in May 2013. After officiating over hundreds of ceremonies, I realized I wanted to help couples plan and coordinate their wedding.  I became a Certified Wedding Planner through ABC (Association of Bridal Consultants).  I am able to help you plan and coordinate from the very beginning of your wedding until the last guest leaves your event. We cater our services to meet any wedding, big or small.  In January 2017 we changed our name to Occasions Event Design.

When you hire Occasions you are not just getting a Wedding Planner, you are getting a partner and a friend. Every couple needs to feel special in the process. This is your big moment, and I want to help make sure you get to enjoy that moment.  It goes by fast! Take it all in!

I moved to Dallas in 2012 at the age of 23, to move to the big city.  I am originally from Burkburnett Texas, which is north of Wichita Falls.  I absolutely love Dallas and all it has to offer! I am a proud doggie dad to 5, yes five dogs! Jasper, Gretchen, Roxie, Sister and Little Bit.  When I am not working a wedding you can find me binge watching my favorite shows or enjoying a good book!

TJ Michaelz, Owner + Senior Planner 

It’s pretty easy to pinpoint where TJ’s love of wedding and event planning came from. TJ has always had a love for working with people and entertaining.  From her early days of planning various school events and later evolving into her first wedding coordinating company in Southern California, TJ has a knack for putting together memorable events.  After relocating with her husband Brian and twin boys, TJ began working with founder and wedding planner Blake Nash at Occasions Event and Design to coordinate some of the metroplex’s most elaborate weddings.  

TJ’s love of organization and planning has followed her forever, and always carried over into her work. Working as a project and office manager in the entertainment sector, she had the opportunity to plan conferences, concerts and meetings for some of the most noted leaders, entertainers and organizations in California, New Mexico and Texas.

As a wedding and events planner, TJ has been able to hone in on her passion for helping clients create truly fantastic experiences. “There is nothing more satisfying than knowing my services made my clients’ day better. Our work has been featured multiple times on numerous blogs, social media platforms, The Knot and Wedding Wire.”

Brian Michaelz, Owner + Entertainment director 

As Entertainment Director and Event Planner with Occasions Event and Design, Brian leverages an unparalleled understanding of the entertainment and event industry. Having built a widely accepted reputation as trustworthy, diligent, and entirely dedicated towards the enjoyment of his clients, Brian has been a prominent fixture in the entertainment industry for over 20 years, and considers himself extremely fortunate for the success he’s experienced in, as he states it ” I love this industry and I want to keep moving forward with what I love”.

Brian’s sales and negotiating ability was clear from the beginning while working for the broadcasting industry. Brian’s ability to maintain and cultivate major client relationships did not go unnoticed and quickly made him a recognized name in the entertainment business.

Directly prior to switching over to Occasions Event and Design, Brian was responsible for sales and marketing at numerous companies focused on entertainment and education, where he was instrumental in raising the visibility of such companies such as Fastforward Kids, and Michaelz Media within the industry.

Katie Hogan, Lead Coordinator

Hello all! My name is Katie Hogan and it’s a pleasure to be a part of the wonderful team here at Occasions. I am fairly new to the Dallas area, but have fallen in love with Texas the three short years I have lived here.
While at Southern Illinois University I was a part of a sorority where I found my passion for creativity and planning. I decided to follow that passion and moved across the county to finish out my business management degree in Dallas.
